Peggy Nash stopped in Nanaimo today during her bid for the NDP Leadership race.  She fielded a number of questions on a variety of subjects such as building the NDP to CETA to immigration and I am happy to report that she supports the return of successorship rights in the RFP process.

CAW 114 Supports Striking VIU Faculty Association in Nanaimo

Brothers Geoff Cocetti and Jim Sadlemyer stand in support of the striking Vancouver Island University Faculty Association during a rally held by the students March 14, 2011.  They have also walked the picket lines in a show of solidarity.  Jim Sadlemyer, Vancouver Member at Large for Local 114 is also the Strike Support Committee chair for the Nanaimo Duncan and District Labour Council.  "I am proud to report that unionized workers in Nanaimo are respecting picket lines and refusing to cross.  I am also pleased with the ongoing support shown by other unions as their members walk the lines before and after their normal work days," observed Sadlmeyer.

Influential Unions Urge members to Support Olsen in Byelection

Darcy Olsen was officially endorsed by the Nanaimo Duncan & District Labour Council (NDDLC) last night. CAW 114's Vancouver Island Member at Large, Jim Sadlemyer, serves as a Vice-President for the NDDLC and sits on the Council's Political Action committee.  "I urge all  CAW and other Union members in the Nanaimo area to vote for Darcy Olsen for city council March 26," said Sadlemyer,  "bring a friend and get them to vote too."
