International Solidarity Rally Against Union Busting

Sisters and Brothers,

We need maximum support for the BC Fed April 2 solidarity rally at the Peace Arch border crossing.  U.S. workers are under vicious anti-union attack by Republicans in Wisconsin and elsewhere and it has already started spreading to Toronto where the municipal and provincial government is preparing to ram through changes to make transit an essential service..

There will be a bus to pick up travelers form Vancouver Island.  If you are coming from Vancouver Island and need a seat on the bus, email Jim Sadlemyer at jsadlemyer@hotmail.com  to confirm numbers.  Nanaimo attendees will need to be on the 10:15 a.m. sailing out of Duke Point, Victoria travelers will need to be on the 11:00 a.m. sailing.  The bus(s) will be leaving the terminal at approximately 12:45 p.m..  The bus(s) will take us back to the ferry terminal at around 3:30 p.m. The ferry bus will be marked so you don't end up stuck on the lower mainland!
Jim must have the numbers before 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning to pass on to the BC FED.

Buses for mainlanders are scheduled to leave Scott Road Station at 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.  Please send an e-mail message (indicating your name and which bus time you want) to buses@bcfed.ca in order to reserve a seat on a bus.  The buses will return participants to the Scott Road Skytrain station immediately after the event (starting at approximately 3:30 p.m.)  Participants are encouraged to use transit or take advantage of the "Park and Ride" lot at Scott Road.

CBSA informs us that participants could be asked for proof of Canadian residence and/or proof of citizenship/immigrant status. The easiest way to provide this would be with a Canadian passport.  If you do not have a passport, please bring government issued photo identification (i.e.- driver’s license) and birth certificate or Canadian immigration document.
