        BILL C-49

This Bill, although titled "Preventing Human Smugglers from Abusing Canada’s Immigration System Act", misses the intended target: Smugglers. Instead it attacks the Refugee rights.

At CAW Council, in December 2010, National President Ken Lewenza, urged “CAW local unions in calling on their Members of Parliament to defeat Bill C-49.”

As a result of Ken's recommendation, Bill C-49 letter writing campaign has begun and is now up on our website: http://petition.web.net/caw/node/38
