Local 114 Supports Afrigrand Caravan Tour
Sister Barbie Zipp (left) Brother Jack Marshall (centre) Sister Sarah Dutsch (right) at the final event of the Afrigrand Tour in Victoria. Jack, a retired long haul trucker, donated his time and drove 2/3 of the cross Canada Tour of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to promote Aids awareness. The tour also stopped in Nanaimo earlier in the week and was greeted by Brother Jim Sadlemyer, The Local donated funds to assist the tour with expenses while on the Island and in B.C. A special thanks go to the local Grannies groups who hosted the tour.
Tsabile and Thandeka
The grandmother/granddaughter team from Swaziland, Africa: Tsabile Victoria Simelane, 56, and a granddaughter, Thandeka Carol Motsa, 19. Both work with the national grassroots organization Swaziland Positive Living (SWAPOL), and shared their experiences of living with HIV/AIDS in their community.
